The jig rotates 90 degrees in either direction for slanting the tread grooves. The 72-tooth index sprocket will space out the grooves around the wheel in any multiple of 5 degrees. The tensioned chain mechanism for rotating the wooden wheel while cutting keeps all the grooves accurate and repeatable, so that wheels made up of multiple wood discs can have their grooves align.
